Chris, Day 16 in Thailand. Fight Night.

Day16: Got my first taste of Thailand last night. Fought the fight I was looking for. Thai, 26yrs old, just over 70 fights, and he was the same size as me.

2nd rnd TKO... By leg cramp?!?

Not a bad fight, 1st rnd was pretty tame. 2nd rnd he came out blazing. Took me by surprise really. He landed a couple good kicks, and knees, nothing I couldn't handle, but was applying a lot of pressure, not giving any room, and trying to clinch constantly(a good plan against a foreigner I suppose). I finally stood him up with a hook, cross counter, than another, upper cut, hook, cross. He came back with a swing to the body, which I grabbed, and kicked his leg out. When he hit the ground, his leg cramped up, and that was it.

Not a bad fight, I will take it more as experience than anything. Every thing has just been chaotic being here. I know I could be better prepared for next time.
There is a huge amount of talent here in Thailand, that is why I am here. Having a better idea of what it takes to step into the ring with just one of, Thailand's many experienced fighters. Tomorrow begins the second half of my trip, more motivated than ever, I will be waiting.

Burning Heart

This morning's run by the beach in Vancouver was a very emotional one.

This past year, my motivation for fighting and training has hit its all time low. From suffering my first lost in the ring, getting over a long-term relationship, to the commitment with the army, all of these variables distracted and took the fire out of me.

However during this run I was able to dig deep and summon something I haven't felt in a while. I now know the fire is still there, somewhere deep just waiting to rise once again. I will investigate further before commenting anymore. All i know is that, my "once" source of motivation to fight has change. Because I have changed.

Marquez got beat down.....and no I am not going to go into the whole "was it a fair fight." Props to both fighters. Lets hope Pac-Man beats Cotto so we can witness the ultimate mega fight of the decade, Mayweather vs Pac-Man. haha. anyways, the reason for my posting is because of this clip. Play Styles

Every gaming community is a weird mirror image of every other gaming community. The same personalities and the same play styles seem to repeat themselves, ad infinitum. While reading about the personalities throughout the history of chess, I was struck by how similar it all was to the personalities I grew up with playing Street Fighter. I will now relate to you some of those personalities, and I will also take a very controversial stand: I believe that there is one style of play that is superior to all others. The upper echelons of gamers always seem to show a similar mix of varied play styles, but the one true style has its way of coming out on top. This is certainly not the style I am known for, but I’m working on it. Perhaps you will recognize these players in your own gaming communities

Female Fighters

In case you all have been living in a cave, you are probably aware that there has been a great increase in female fighters lately. At TKO we have some awesome female athletes including Christine, Melissa, and Phadama (sorry i just butchered your name). Best watch out for these girls. They hit hard, and look good doing it.
