The Three Pillars of Muay Thai Seminar

Melissa, Isaac, Chris, and myself attended the "Three Pillars of Muay Thai Seminar" hosted by Kru Gerald Ching, Kru Ajahn Suchart, and Kru Clifton Brown at Training Grounds in Mississauga. A very insightful weekend. Both days started off with some pad drills courtesy of Kru Gerald, followed by Kru Ajahn Suchart's footwork and shadow kicking techniques. We then received a taste of Kru Clifton Brown's mind. He talked to us about attack range and distance and how and when to attack an opponent using traditional Muay Thai techniques. He also covered other topics such as, cancellations, economy of motion, field of attack, center of balance, momentum, and timing. It definitely was a huge honor to meet and learn from such great and wise fighters. They made me realize the true complexity and depth of the sport.

Although, the highlight of the day was receiving that Fairtex Basketball Jersey. :)

--Notable Quotes--

"If it looks pretty, it wasn't Muay Thai. It has to look exact and punishing 100% of the time." -Samart Payakaroon (cited by Clifton)

"Nobody eats for free. If you eat, you have to pay." -Clifton Brown

"Love your body more than you girlfriend. Because your girlfriend will love you body too!" -Ajahn Suchart

This is Samart Payakaroon. He wasn't there, but I liked his quote. (3.14sec mark is a must see!)
