Planning

"I don't have a plan. I don't watch my opponents. I just go into the fight and adapt to whatever situation. A true champion can adapt to anything."
- Mayweather JR

"Be like water. Adapt and react."
-Bruce Lee

I agree. When you plan you lock yourself down and therefore limit yourself.

For instance, one of my biggest problem is that sometimes I would go into sparring or fights fixated on a particular weapon that I am going to use. ie. I "plan" to beat my opponent with the left thai kick. This is based on ignorance because how do I know this will work against this particular opponent? I'm basing my plan off previous fight experiences or whatever reason, but guess what? No fights are the same. Sure you have your favorite moves and set combos, but you should let them come out freely and not forced or pre determined. That way your mind can stay completely clear during the bout and you will be ready to adapt in any situation. Hint: often times you'll find that the techniques you have been drilling most prior to your bout, will come out naturally and effortlessly.

This is a very hard topic to explain, and many of you will interpret what I am trying to say differently. The best way to understand this is through ring experience.

Keep training hard.
